Today, 24 February 2026, we mark 4 years since the beginning of the war in Ukraine — 4 years of pain and loss, but also of extraordinary courage, solidarity, and humanity.
NGO Bozhurite joined the commemorative initiatives to honor all those affected and to remind us that remembrance and compassion are part of the path toward healing and hope. Stories of rescued lives — both human and animal — remind us how vital compassion and collective effort are in the most difficult moments.

On this difficult day, the commemorative film Checkpoint Zoo by Joshua Zeman was screened, honoring those who risked and lost their lives rescuing animals and protecting life. An exhibition of Petrykivka style painting, a traditional Ukrainian decorative art recognized by UNESCO for its rich floral symbolism, vibrant colors, and expressive brush techniques, was also presented to share Ukrainian culture, heritage, and artistic identity with the community. Rooted in village traditions, Petrykivka reflects harmony with nature, protection, and resilience, passed down through generations of Ukrainian artists.

The exhibition was part of Workshop 3 under Activity A003.016 – Thematic workshops on Ukrainian culture and crafts, implemented within the project ISRICM-EU: Innovative Approaches to Mitigate the Societal Consequences of Russia’s War of Aggression Against Ukraine within EU countries (ESF-SI-2024-UA-01-0006).

We remain committed to supporting causes that protect life, dignity, and hope.
